I disagree somewhat. It would depend on how the Psycologist goes about things, as well as the personality of the person under study. Sometimes it helps to understand why you act a certain way... For me at least, there have been times when a friend has pointed out how things from the past made me act like I did, and I dare say it encouraged me to conquer things. Realizing I was not born that way, but that I was shaped that way, helped me realize I didn't have to be that way... if that makes sense.
Also, just because a subject is taught a certain way doesn't mean it has to be applied under the same way... You take what you learn and you mesh it with your own ideology and knowledge of truth, and improve it
The field of psychology encourages not taking responsibility for your actions too much for my taste.
