Flying Pigs

So my mom has two humming bird feeders out front which she has to refill on a daily basis, if not more frequently. The cause of this is because my mom's humming bird food is really good. No one else we know (there are quite a few people around here that have humming bird feeders) have to fill their feeders up so often.

It was raining one Sunday and during a break all these birds came to eat what they could before the rain started again. They were a little leery of me at first, but hunger won out and they ate anyway. I took
a ton of pictures, but it is hard holding a camera steady when humming birds are flying at you (they are incredibly territorial) and with lightning striking pretty close.

It is very rare to see humming birds perch when they eat (it happened twice while I was taking pictures and if I moved, they flew away). It was really cool to get close to the humming birds.

It also is pretty rare for more than one humm
ing bird to feed at a time, again they are territorial. My mom's food is so good that there will be birds at almost every feed blossoms (10 total, 6 on one, 4 on the other) and there will be bird waiting "in line". It is really funny to see when a bird gets too close while waiting and they get chased away. They are silly little birds and I enjoy watching them.
